beer_good_foamy has a brilliant meta about how Buffy the Vampire Slayer works as a postmodern story which progressively grows in self-awareness until it attains the power of rewriting itself in "Chosen," erasing and rewriting the Slayer myth, achieving freedom from the constraints of the story as a means of taking control of one's destiny.
