Two Very Different Stories

As always, I get to read the best Sherlock fic because ladyofthelog  steers me to it first, so this rec is just something I feel bears repeating because it is that damn fine:

The Death and Resurrection of the English Language by wordstrings.

This might be the best piece of fanfiction I've ever read.  It's sexy, it's deep, the characterization is so wonderful you want to swim in it, the dialogue is so right, the moments you want payoff for get paid off and the moments you didn't think you needed became as necessary as oxygen.  The story is told through a sociopathic Sherlock Holmes POV that's execution is a study in brilliance and through his eyes and mind, the story redefines how we understand need and romance and love.  I wanna write like this someday.

+ And after you've gotten a taste of understated brilliance, do come read the very definition of brilliant absurdity.

lostboy_lj's Boss Rush series takes fandom's assessment of Season 8 as being written by the Trio and delivers wonderful Season 8 metacommentary through hilarious hijinks with our three favorite nerds.  Incisive, insightful and delightful.  (I... might have acted it out over the phone to one of my friends because I had to share it.  And yes, I did try to do the voices.  I'm better at doing Andrew, apparently.)
