AwesomeCon, here I go again

Hi friends!  I'm so overdue for a life update here on LJ, but suffice it to say I've been very busy with work.  Good news?  I got a promotion and a raise after my annual review.  I'm also successfully working towards a professional certification that will help me further along in my career.  These are all good things that make me feel like an adult who is sort of okay at adulting.

BUT ENOUGH ABOUT THAT BLAH.

I'm really here to tell you that I'm once again attending AwesomeCon, only this year guess what?Collapse )
Buffy - red and terrible and red

wacky and wild times in fandom

So I just took a walk down memory lane rereading the BtVS Penguin AU spree of 2010.  Remember that?  If you somehow missed this, go forth and enjoy this perfectly wacky and wild moment in fandom when the stars aligned and the penguins were plentiful.

This really is the perfect microcosm of what I love most about fandom, where people creating wonderful and bizarre fanworks inspire others to create and it becomes this wonderful ~event nobody could ever see coming.  You can't manufacture it, you're just along for the ride.  Pure joy.

Can anyone else think of fandom moments like this (tho presumably with less penguins)?
Buffy Kickass

A sequel to "Fin Amour"?

Why yes!

It's called The Soul Lies Down by the_moonmoth -- nope, not me, alas! but that just means I get to read and enjoy it without all the hard work of writing. ;-)

This story is all about Dawn creating her own happy ending. I love the tragic end of Fin Amour because TEARS FEED MY POWER but I understand that extreme angst as an ending can be tough to swallow, so I fully endorse Dawn rewriting the universe in-story to give readers a happy ending. Really, what more could you want?

How about this: The prose is absolutely lovely and I truly believe that the_moonmoth is my brain-twin when it comes to symbolism.

So if you love Dawn and Keyness-centric plot and Buffy/Spike and poetic prose and happy endings...

...is anyone even still reading this as opposed to clicking through to the fanfic?
